President Jin Li Meets with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Representative in China Carlos and Delegation

    On the afternoon of January 28, Jin Li, President of Fudan University, met with Carlos Aldeco, Representative in China of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and his delegation. The two sides exchanged views on future cooperation in areas including the integration of medicine and agriculture, agricultural innovation, food and health, and South–South cooperation.

    Carlos noted that this was his first visit to Fudan University and expressed his strong impression of the University’s research strength and international collaboration achievements in food, agriculture, and nutrition-related fields. He thanked Fudan for its long-standing support in providing high-quality interns to FAO and indicated his willingness to further expand more diverse and practical cooperation on this basis, particularly in South–South cooperation and technical collaboration, with a view to extending cooperation from China to other developing countries.

    Jin Li stated that Fudan University and FAO have maintained a long-term and stable partnership covering student internships, academic exchanges, and participation in FAO-related international initiatives. Further deepening cooperation with FAO will help Fudan better serve China’s national food security goals and the Healthy China strategy, while playing a greater role in global agriculture, nutrition, and sustainable development.

    Experts and scholars from the School of Public Health, the Institute of Nutrition, the Institute for Six-Industry Research, the School of Life Sciences, the Institute of Development Studies, and the Institute of Big Data, along with representatives from the Center for Global Partnership and the Career Development Office, attended the meeting. The discussion was chaired by Tian Mei, Director of the Center for Global Partnership, with Xu Yefang, Deputy Director, and Ruan Zhixuan, Program Officer, in attendance.

    Following the meeting, the unveiling ceremony of the Center for Medicine–Agriculture Integration under the Fudan University Institute of Nutrition was held. The Center is dedicated to advancing joint research in medicine and agriculture, providing resource support for interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, personnel interaction, and collaborative research, and continuously deepening cross-disciplinary cooperation in the field of medicine–agriculture integration.
