“Wisdom Converges in Liucheng”: High-Level Young Talent Visit to Jiading Successfully Concluded

Time:2025-05-19

From May 19 to 21, 2025, the “Wisdom Converges in Liucheng” High-Level Young Talent Visit to Jiading was successfully held in Jiading, Shanghai. The event was hosted by Fudan University and co-organized by the Jiading District People’s Government of Shanghai. Centered on the theme of “Innovation-Driven Development and Talent Leadership,” the conference brought together nearly 100 young scholars, entrepreneurs, and industry experts from fields including artificial intelligence, biomedicine, and advanced manufacturing to discuss cutting-edge technologies and explore pathways for deeper integration of industry and research.

Xiao Wengao, Secretary of the CPC Jiading District Committee; Gao Xiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jiading District Committee and District Mayor; and Chen Zhimin, Vice President of Fudan University, attended the event. The meeting was chaired by Tian Mei, Director of the Center for Advancing Global Collaboration at Fudan University.

In his welcome address, Xiao Wengao noted that Jiading, as a key carrier of Shanghai’s ambition to build an international science and technology innovation center, is accelerating the aggregation of innovation resources through the “main urban district effect” and “urban integration effect.” He reviewed the history of cooperation between Jiading and Fudan, highlighting milestones such as the establishment of the Precision Medicine Industrial Park in 2018 and the advancement of projects including “Life Valley” and the Fudan International Education Innovation Center. These initiatives demonstrate the fruitful outcomes of university–district collaboration. Looking ahead, Jiading will focus on building “sci-tech innovation breakthrough hubs,” deepen the integration of technological and industrial innovation, and create a livable and business-friendly highland for young talent development.

In his remarks, Chen Zhimin emphasized that cooperation between Fudan and Jiading has consistently centered on “innovation symbiosis and deep integration of industry and research.” He highlighted the jointly established “Fudan International Education Innovation Center”—an open and boundary-breaking innovation park that will focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, biomedicine, and the low-altitude economy, serving as a “reactor” for the deep integration of the education chain, innovation chain, and industrial chain. Chen also noted that 2025 marks the 120th anniversary of Fudan University, and the University will continue to advance educational reform through strategic initiatives such as “AI Empowering All Disciplines” and the development of a “New Engineering Ecosystem,” thereby delivering more interdisciplinary talent to support regional development.

At the subsequent closed-door seminar titled “High-Level Talent Empowering the Development of New Quality Productive Forces,” participating experts engaged in in-depth discussions on the cultivation and advancement of new quality productive forces. On the afternoon of May 20, parallel sub-forums on innovation and entrepreneurship were held, where more than 50 experts and scholars from cutting-edge fields delivered presentations showcasing diverse scenarios in which technology empowers industry. During the conference, participants also visited benchmark innovation parks and enterprises such as Shanghai Medical Equipment Valley and United Imaging Healthcare, gaining first-hand insight into the dynamic vitality of Jiading’s innovation ecosystem.

This conference was not only a grand gathering for young talent exchange, but also a milestone marking a new stage in university–district collaboration. Looking ahead, both sides will integrate a global vision with deep local engagement, contributing the “Jiading model” to China’s pursuit of high-level educational opening-up and greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

The conference was attended by a number of distinguished leaders and guests, including Li Xia, Second-Level Inspector of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Party Secretary of the Shanghai Overseas-Returned Scholars Association; Ran Xiaoyi, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the Shanghai Institute of Socialism; Tang Xiaolin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiading District Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department; and Gan Zhongxue, Dean of the Institute for Intelligent Robotics at Fudan University.
