On the afternoon of June 30, the Center for Advancing Global Collaboration of Fudan University was officially unveiled, marking a new step forward in the University’s efforts to advance high-level opening-up. Operating under a collaborative model characterized by “broad fields, multidisciplinary engagement, and cross-departmental coordination,” the Center will work closely with multiple university offices and academic units—including the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the Graduate School, the Academic Affairs Office, the Office for International Students, and the Office of External Cooperation—to consolidate efforts in advancing major global cooperation initiatives. The Center aims to enhance Fudan’s influence and core competitiveness within the evolving global landscape of higher education innovation.

On July 1, the Center organized a series of activities to promote the orderly advancement of related cooperation initiatives. In the morning, the Center convened an internal coordination meeting on Sino-foreign cooperative education programs, bringing together representatives from the Graduate School, Academic Affairs Office, Office for International Students, Finance Office, and relevant schools and departments to explore development pathways for joint education programs. At the meeting, University leadership mobilized and deployed key tasks, interpreted the latest policies, and identified major challenges and bottlenecks, laying a solid foundation for subsequent implementation.

In the afternoon, the Center, in collaboration with the Fudan Institute for Global Public Policy, hosted the International Expert Advisory Meeting on Global Cooperation. Scholars from Harvard University, London School of Economics and Political Science, University of Southern Denmark, and Fundação Getulio Vargas were invited to participate in discussions with the Center’s team on Fudan’s internationalization strategy. The experts highly recognized the strategic significance of the Center’s establishment and offered recommendations for its future development, including defining phased development goals, upholding a people-centered and problem-oriented approach to cooperation, establishing sustainable partnership models, and developing sound evaluation mechanisms to ensure higher quality and greater effectiveness in global collaboration.

Prior to the Center’s official establishment, preparatory research and consultation had already been underway. Recently, the Center visited the School of Information Science and Technology to gain an in-depth understanding of its overall design and innovative mechanisms for international cooperation. The Center has further clarified its service priorities in supporting the internationalization of schools and departments. It will provide policy interpretation, resource matching, and information support, working to build a coordinated system of “bridges + platforms + networks” and jointly foster a more dynamic and open ecosystem for international cooperation.
