International Expert Advisory Meeting Convened to Accelerate Global Cooperation

    On July 1, the Center for Advancing Global Collaboration (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”) of Fudan University, in collaboration with the Fudan Institute for Global Public Policy, co-hosted the inaugural “International Expert Advisory Meeting on Global Cooperation.” International experts from institutions including Harvard University, London School of Economics and Political Science, University of Southern Denmark, and Fundação Getulio Vargas gathered to offer insights and recommendations on accelerating Fudan's global cooperation efforts. The meeting was chaired by Professor Jing Yijia, Dean of the Fudan Institute for Global Public Policy.

    Participating experts unanimously agreed that the establishment of the Center reflects strong foresight and practical significance, demonstrating the University's strategic thinking amid the evolving global landscape of higher education. They noted that the Center should define phased objectives, strengthen key talent networks, and use science as a bridge to enhance interdisciplinary and cross-regional exchange. The experts also offered targeted recommendations regarding international research collaboration, global talent recruitment and cultivation, and the incubation of major projects.

    Professor Tian Mei, Director of the Center, stated that the experts' suggestions were highly valuable and would be carefully studied and actively incorporated. She noted that the Center will next engage more deeply with individual schools and departments to better understand specific needs, promote the implementation of cooperation initiatives, and learn from relevant administrative departments to enhance service awareness and operational effectiveness. Professor Jing Yijia emphasized that Fudan possesses a longstanding tradition and strength in international development. In the current context of advancing the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent cultivation, higher-quality and higher-level global cooperation is essential to generating new momentum and opportunities for growth. Deputy Directors Xu Yefang, Wang Lina (Acting), and Huang Xiayun (Acting) also shared their reflections and experiences in advancing the Center's work.

    This meeting marked the first high-level advisory session since the Center's establishment and provided important input for its upcoming strategic planning. The Center will continue refining its objectives, expanding its expert network, and supporting Fudan University in building a more distinctive and impactful global cooperation framework.
